Hulu’s Onyx Collective is moving forward with a TV adaptation of the Southern Bastards graphic novels, ordering a pilot for a new series. The project brings back the creators of the original comics, Jason Aaron and Jason Latour, as executive producers. Screenwriter Bill Dubuque will pen the teleplay and also serve as an executive producer, sharing a story credit with director Nia DaCosta, who is set to direct the pilot. Based on Aaron and Latour’s acclaimed graphic novels, the adaptation signals Hulu’s ongoing commitment to bold, comic-inspired dramas and Onyx Collective’s expanding development slate.
