(Chopin, a Sonata in Paris). International sales are handled by Paris-based Playtime. The $17.5 million-budget biopic of Frédéric Chopin, by Michał Kwieciński, is produced by Akson Studio in Poland, the team behind Katyń and Warsaw 44. The project stars Eryk Kulm. LaZona Pictures’ acquisition marks a strategic expansion of Spanish distribution for this acclaimed period drama, underscoring Spain’s appetite for high-end European biopics and music-filled cinema about iconic composers and 19th-century Paris.
