A new report from the Cairo Film Connection, unveiled during Cairo Industry Days (November 16–20), highlights key trends shaping the Egyptian film industry and underscores Saudi Arabia’s rapidly expanding exhibition and production sector as a central driver. Egyptian cinema, the oldest and largest in the Arab world, has long maintained an evolving export footprint, with periods of fluctuation giving way to rising momentum as regional demand grows. The study details how Saudi Arabia’s growing cinema infrastructure and increasing production activity are positioning the Kingdom as the principal export market for Egyptian films. Findings also touch on co-productions, distribution arrangements, and box office performance within the Gulf region, signaling a new era of collaboration between Egyptian filmmakers and Saudi exhibitors. For industry stakeholders, the report points to shifting export dynamics and fresh opportunities to reach audiences across the Arab world and beyond.
