Tallinn, Estonia — France’s National Film Board (CNC) has launched its first Baltic-focused co-production workshop, signaling a new push into Baltic cinema. For more than a decade, the Baltic states have been conspicuously absent from one of Europe’s most influential co-production funds: France’s Aide aux cinémas du monde (ACM). This absence was acknowledged by Michel Plazanet, deputy head of international affairs at France’s National Film Board (CNC), as he opened the workshop. The Baltic-focused program aims to connect Baltic filmmakers with ACM funding opportunities and with French producers and other international partners, boosting cross-border collaborations and expanding access to ACM support. By bringing Baltic projects into ACM’s orbit, the CNC signals a renewed commitment to diversifying Europe’s co-production network.
