Museum of Emotions Competition Edition 7 Winners Announced

The Museum of Emotions Competition, an annual international design competition, has announced the winners of its seventh edition. The competition, organized by Buildner, challenges participants to design a conceptual museum with two exhibition halls: one inducing negative emotions and the other inducing positive emotions.

The winning project, 'Nevertheless,' designed by Minseok Choi and Jang Sieon from Sangmyung University in South Korea, takes visitors on an emotional journey through a walled, excavated landscape. The project juxtaposes chaos and stillness, with rubble and collapse on one side and controlled geometry and contemplative enclosure on the other.

The use of light, layout, and materials in architectural design can profoundly influence human emotions, from serenity and joy to anxiety and melancholy. The Museum of Emotions Competition highlights the importance of considering the emotional impact of buildings on their occupants.

Buildner has also published a book, 'Architectural Emotions,' which explores the intricate relationship between architecture and human emotions. The book features projects from various editions of the Museum of Emotions competition, showcasing a range of ideas from architects and designers worldwide.

The next edition of the competition, Museum of Emotions Competition Edition 8, is now open, with a 10,000 € prize fund and a registration deadline of June 18, 2026. Other ongoing competitions by Buildner include the MICROHOME 2026 and the Mujassam Watan Urban Sculpture Challenge.
